There are different times when you may need a password or PIN code with your T-CAT. If you don't remember any of them, here's how to retrieve them:
The personal code is a single-use code that you define at the time of delivery of the certificate together with the person responsible for the Digital Certification Service. This code will be used to download your T-CAT P.
If you believe that you did not define this code when delivering the T-CAT P, talk to the person responsible for the Digital Certification Service, because it is possible that, although it is not the correct procedure, they defined it during the delivery.
If you defined it yourself and don't remember it, there is no way to recover it (it's done this way for security and only you know it). You will have to contact the person responsible for the Digital Certification Service to request a new T-CAT P.
The management code is a code that you will use to download and install (password) the T-CAT P.
If you don't remember it , you will find it:
- On the delivery sheet given to you by the person responsible for the Digital Certification Service
- In the email you received with the communication of the codes.
- You can also recover it by following the steps in How do I recover the T-CAT management code?
The management code is a code that you will use for the revocation of any T-CAT certificate.
If you don't remember it, you can find it:
- On the delivery sheet given to you by the person responsible for the Digital Certification Service.
- In the email you received with the communication of the codes.
- You can also recover it by following the steps in How do I recover the T-CAT management code?
If you want to know how to revoke the T-CAT you can consult How to revoke my T-CAT?
The PIN is a numeric security code that protects the use of the digital certificate to ensure that only the certificate holder can use it to sign or authenticate.
The PUK is the Personal Unblocking Code and is used to unlock the digital certificate after the PIN code has been entered incorrectly three times.
If you do not remember them , you will find the original codes:
- On the delivery sheet given to you by the person responsible for the Digital Certification Service
- In the email you received with the notification of the PIN and PUK codes.
- You can also recover them by following the steps in the section How can I recover the PIN/PUK of the T-CAT .
Note that only the original certificate codes can be recovered. If you have modified them, only you know them.
When you install the T-CAT P you have the option of adding a user PIN (private key) that you will be asked every time you want to identify yourself or sign with the certificate.
Please note that this PIN is optional and by default the T-CAT P is not installed with a PIN.
This code cannot be recovered and if you do not remember it :
- If you saved the certificate file when you downloaded it (it's a file with a .p12 or .pfx extension), just install it again without a PIN or with a new one that you can easily remember. The code required for the installation of the original archive is the management code.
- If you do not have the original file, you must contact the person responsible for the Digital Certification Service to request a new T-CAT P.
If you have exported or backed up your T-CAT P, you will have set a password to protect the installation file.
If you don't remember it :
- If you still have access to the browser where you have it installed, do a new export with a strong password, but one that you can easily remember.
- If you keep the original file you downloaded (it's a file with a .p12 or .pfx extension), you can install it with the "management code" you have in the mail you received or on the delivery slip.
- If you cannot make a new export (for example, because you no longer have the computer where it was installed), or you have the original file, you must bear in mind that:
- Installation password entry attempts are infinite and non-blocking
- Password cannot be recovered (it's between you and your computer)
